Review: Kiehl’s Skincare products for Oily & Sensitive skin!

I’ve always had sensitive acne prone skin for the longest time that I can remember. I thought that going to a dermatologist and getting a chemical peel was the only solution –  Enter, Kiehl’s skincare range of products for Oily and Sensitive Skin.

I was introduced to Kiehl’s products 2 years ago and I’ve never looked back. I was looking for a new skincare routine and I knew exactly where to go. The skin expert at Kiehl’s was very helpful, she first tested my skin before she recommended the right treatment. The result – My skin is very oily (I always thought I had combination skin!!)

This is the skincare routine she recommended and I absolutely love how my skin feels!

·         Cleanse – We all know the mantra – Cleanse, Tone and Moisturise. I never really paid attention to my skin and since I’m really lazy its always put off for tomorrow. Little did I realise what my laziness to adhere to a skincare regime was doing to my skin. CTM is the best treatment you can give your face, it not only removes excess oil and dirt completely, but also helps reduce tanning and pigmentation which in turn helps reduce the signs of ageing, leaving you with lesser breakouts and clearer looking skin, according to Darshana, the skincare specialist at Kiehl’s store, Inorbit, Mumbai. Since I’ve got extremely oily skin, she recommended I cleanse my skin with The Blue Herbal gel Cleanser. This cleanser contains Salicylic Acid to help keep skin clear of acne blemishes. It thoroughly cleans pores and removes traces of dirt, residue and oil, which can lead to acne break-outs.

·         Tone – I was pleasantly surprised with this one. The Calendula Herbal Extract Alcohol-Free Toner gently cleanses and soothes normal to oily skin tones. What’s even better? It doesn’t contain alcohol or harsh synthetic agents that dry your skin and strip it of its natural moisture. As soon as I applied this, my face felt so refreshed and it didn’t feel stretchy or dry. The Calendula Herbal Extract toner, comes with actual Calendula flowers that are added by someone for that extra Kiehl’s personal love and care for your skin.

·         Moisturise – I am one of those people who keep picking at their face as soon as a zit surfaces. As a result of my hands never ceasing to come in contact with my face, I now have large pores and zit marks that are very visible. The skincare expert at Kiehl’s suggested I use a light moisturising serum that would not only moisturise my face but would also correct the damage I’ve done, by reducing dark spots and giving me an even skin tone. The star of this routine is the Clearly Corrective™ Dark Spot Solution. This solution comes in an easy to use dropper which also helps make the product last longer, it helps to prevent the formation of future dark spots and other skin discolorations with continued daily usage. It is silicone-free, paraben-free, fragrance-free and does not contain colorants and optical diffusers. It contains an anti-cluster technology that breaks apart discolouration’s and prevents formations of new pigment clusters and potent complex of activated C (Vitamin C) that limits excessive melanin. The skin expert recommended that I use this first before I apply sun screen and then gradually move to layering it with the Clearly Corrective™ Hydrating Moisture Emulsion.

·         Sunscreen – I’m always afraid of sunscreen since I have extremely oily skin. I’ve always been in a dilemma while buying a sun screen. Sometimes you just don’t want to end up spending so much money only to find out that the sunscreen makes your face even oiler and gives rise to breakouts as soon as you step out into the sun. I thought I would never ever get out of this dilemma until I was introduced to Kiehl’s BB Cream – Actively Correcting and Beautifying with SPF 50 PA+++. All you have to do is just use one pea sized drop, and spread it evenly onto your skin. The BB cream is so light and non-greasy, and it gave my skin an instant glow!! What’s also great about this cream is that it is Paraben Free, Fragrance Free, Silicone Free and  Mineral Oil Free. It also delivers broad spectrum SPF 50 PA +++ UV protection and this formula also helps to fight future sun damage. What more could a girl ask for??

Never have I ever had the satisfaction that I’ve bought the right skincare products for my type of Oily skin until now. It is best to start on your skin care routine while in your  twenties and that’s exactly what I’ve decided to do. I was very pleased at the kind of skincare advice I was offered and would recommend you go out today and get your Kiehl’s skincare advice and invest in great product that works!

Now go out there and take care of your skin Chicas!

How to : Travel in Style!

My job requires a lot of traveling and believe me these distances aren’t short!! If not planned properly you can end up getting out of the destination airport looking like well, not so pretty 😉

Here are a few tips and tricks that will help you have a comfortable flight and walk out of that airport looking Fabulous!

1) Drink, Drink , Drink…! – The most important thing to do on short or long distance travel is hydrate! While on board a flight, the air con

and air pressure in a plane, dehydrates your system, making your skin dry and stripped off its moisture. Drinking less water also messes with the circulation in the body, making your knees and ankles swell and cramp up due to water retention.

Drink Water

2) Travel ‘Must-have’ – Carry – on mini toiletry pouch – Traveling long distances makes your face dry and your breathe even worse! (like someone died in your mouth!!) Traveling in style also requires traveling with hygiene (and what if you met this oh so hot looking hunk on the plane??) Most airports allow you to carry 100 ml of small bottles in your carry on or purse and What I’ve found useful is the mini travel size products (available at Target) or any drug store that are just perfect for that mini toiletry pouch. Essential items to have in the pouch are:

– Tooth paste

– Tooth brush

– Body lotion

– Floss

– Face cream

– Lip Gloss/Balm

3) Dress to Impress but comfortably – What I’ve noticed in many travel related articles,  they say you can wear tall boots, and those tight jeans and fitted shirts. Well, I can tell you one thing – they haven’t set foot in an air craft, flying 30,000 ft above sea level and definitely not sat in those tight jeans for 9 hours.

You definitely have to look chic while traveling and there’s a way to do it.

– TLJ – Yes, Treggings, Leggings & Jeggings all come to the rescue. I love wearing treggings or Jeggings on flights more that 24 hours since you tend to get cold. And I reserve my leggings for shorter flights. These help you walk , sleep, sit & stand comfortably while making you look like a diva!

– Booties, Chic Moccasins – No sneakers please! – Wearing Booties or a pair of chic looking moccasins are the answer to looking fabulous on your feet while traveling. The worse part about any airport security  is removing your footwear (just imagine the trouble you’re in with those tall boots!) Booties or any kind of easily removable footwear is key, you can carry a pair of socks to change into on the flight in case your feet get cold. (at least that’s what I do).

Travel in style

4) Sunnies – We all know that you can hide behind that glamorous pair of coach sunnies your boyfriend gave you last Christmas. Sunnies are the best way to hide those puffy and tired eyes after a long haul flight and you can walk around in style!

coach sunglasses

5) A tote Is stylish but not functional – Well, if I were Jennifer Anniston and had a manager to worry about my forex and documentation I would willingly carry a tote. What I’ve found most useful is a utility sling bag. These are available in varied shapes, sizes and colors and helps you keep all your important stuff in place. It also gives you the peace of mind while you’re in la la land after a glass of wine or two 😉

Rag and Bone

To finish off your look, add a beautiful scarf and a stylish jacket and you’re all set for your next rendezvous with the world!!

Stay fabulous!

Take a sneak peek into Fall 2013!

It’s that time of year where you clean out your closet and prepare for the big Fall! Yes, you need to get rid of those cut away denim shorts and add some glam chic to your wardrobe! As a fashion buyer, I get access to all of the latest trends, designer scoops and more. Working with an international brand just makes all of this information a lot more accessible. So I thought I’d give you a sneak peek into Fall 2013…

So get out and get shopping…

1)      Be-friend the bug – Yes, you heard me, I’m talking spiders, beetles and bees!! If like me, you’ve always been a fan of quirky jewellery, then this is the right the time to let that side of you out! Add some quirky style to those oh! So feminine outfits!

2)      Rockstar Chic! – Soft grunge is what I’m talking about. Sleek silhouettes and understated hard ware make these cool girl staples more polished than ever! Add key pieces like a leather biker jacket with rivets and zips , tall boots, and waxed pants!

3)      Go Blue! – Everyone says that pink is a girly girls colour – I disagree! Although I like pink, I’ve always been attracted to hues of blue. Choose vibrant hues like Cobalt blue which works with every skin tone.

4)      Start loafing around! – We’ve seen loafers come a long way and just when we thought that loafers have seen their share of the spotlight, they’re back again and this time adding a tomboyish appeal to those sexy stilettos!

5)      Clutch an envelope! – Envelope shaped clutches are the new rage! They are chic, sleek and come with lots of storage! So perfect for a night on the town!
